Obituary

Christopher W. Moreau, 48, of Rogler Farm Road, Smithfield, passed away on Saturday October 30th at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Heidi J. (Handrigan) Moreau. They were married for 22 years.

Born in MA, he was the son of Wayne A. and Cheryl A. (Gobin) Moreau of North Providence. Chris lived in Smithfield since 1983 previously residing in Attleboro, MA. He was Senior Director of Product Management for KeepIt of Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from Smithfield High in 1991 and then University of Rhode Island.

Chris was an avid sports fan and he loved his Boston Bruins. More than anything, he loved watching his own boys, Michael and Sean, as well as his many nieces and nephews compete on the fields and in the rink. He was always very proud of all their accomplishments. Chris faithfully attended every Nutcracker ballet performance and many dance recitals for his nieces over the last twenty years ! Chris was also active in Troop One Greenville, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He shared his love of scouting and was instrumental in guiding his own children, and nephews through Troop One earning their Eagle Scout and Life Scout designations. A trip with Troop One and his sons to Philmont, New Mexico will always be a cherished memory.

Chris enjoyed coaching his boys in hockey from their very first days of their skating with milk crates through high school. He coached on the NRI Vikings, Providence Jr. Friars and PCD/St. Ray's/Wheeler co-op teams. Chris enjoyed playing the drums in several local bands. He was a grill master and he knew how to tame fire. Whether in a pit in the backyard or a flame to broil steak or burgers. He could often be found enjoying a roaring fire with friends and family sharing a funny story or two. He was a devoted son, husband, father, uncle and godfather. Above all, he was a great friend to many. Cheers !

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves his sons, Michael C. Moreau and Sean E. Moreau, both of Smithfield, his brothers, Keith A. Moreau and his wife Suzanne of North Scituate and Nathan E. Moreau and his wife Jillian of Coventry, his nieces and nephews, Hayden, Sarah, Max, and Hannah Ross, Giovan and Grace Mokillo, Brendon and Kimberly Moreau, and Emma and Lucas Moreau. He was the son in-law of Earl Handrigan of Scituate, and of Glenn and Elizabeth Graham of Smithfield, brother in-law of Charles and Heather Ross of Smithfield, and Jodi Mokillo of Smithfield.
