Obituary

Worcester: Eileen Marie O’Brien Philip of Worcester was a caring mother, partner, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born to Eslie May O’Brien and Edward O’Brien on January 24, 1944. She spread her angel's wings and left the loving embrace of her family on October 24, 2021 at the age of 77. She leaves her son, Mark Campbell and his wife, Allison; grandchildren, Mark Campbell Jr and Megan Campbell; daughter-in-law, Robin Perez and her husband, Kevin and her long-term partner and love of her life, Phil O’Neill; two sisters, Maureen Carpenter and Kathleen Lucier and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her brothers Terry O’Brien & Edward O’Brien.

Eileen was born in Worcester, lived in the Greendale neighborhood and was a graduate of St Peter’s High School in Worcester where she was lead twirler in the Greendale Marching Band. Eileen was also a teacher’s assistant in the Worcester Public Schools for 36 years and touched innumerable lives with her kindness, sense of humor and strong work ethic. She loved working summer with developmentally delayed children at Camp Joy in Worcester and was actively involved on the planning committee for the St Patrick’s Day Parade for many years.

Although Eileen is gone from us, her joy of living will never be forgotten and will be her legacy to all of us. She loved her son and family, her Irish heritage, music and dancing - especially at Sh-booms, hula hooping, going to yard sales with Megan, working out with her gym friends, a colorful and coordinated outfit and summer breaks from school. Many dogs held a place in her big heart including Mimi, Princess, Precious, Oreo, Bruno and Flash. Her lifetime of hard work and commitment to family was rewarded with an unparalleled retirement full of fun and travel with her partner, Phil O’Neil, including winters in Florida.
