Obituary

ACTON: Brian D. Nugent, 35, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his bedside on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Tufts Medical Center, Boston.
Brian leaves his loving wife of seven years, Elizabeth M. (Plantz) Nugent and their three young children, Logan, Olivia, and Emerson. He also leaves his parents, Richard P. Nugent and Noreen P. (McCarthy) Nugent of Framingham and his two brothers, Sean T. Nugent and his wife Meghan Riley of Washington, DC and Conor P. Nugent and his wife Rebecca (Rossi) Nugent of Chula Vista, California, his maternal grandmother, Sandra J. (Hatfield) McCarthy of Whitman, his in-laws, Mark Plantz and his wife Nancy Plantz of Nokomis, Florida and Vanessa Plantz and her daughter, Arianna of Westwood, along with his many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, co-workers and neighbors.
Brian was born in Framingham and attended Brophy Elementary School, Fuller Middle School, and graduated from Framingham High school in 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 2009 from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University in 2012. Brian was employed by Draper Laboratory, Cambridge, MA until his passing.
Brian was running the virtual Baystate Marathon on Monday, October 11, 2021, when he was suddenly and unexpectedly stricken at the 25th mile. The family is grateful for the efforts of the Acton Police and Fire personnel, EMTs, the MedFlight team, and the dedicated doctors and nurses at the Tufts Medical Center. His medical team at Tufts Medical Center tried valiantly to save his life but the extent of Brian’s injuries was far too severe.
Brian was a bright light in the world and his kindness knew no bounds. He was a wonderful husband and a devoted father who dedicated his time and energy in support of his family. He was intelligent and had a delightfully wicked sense of humor. Brian was a loving son and brother who enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and children, reading, running, and especially playing the guitar. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed teaching the art of angling to his son, Logan. Words cannot describe the sense of loss we are experiencing. Judging by the outpouring of love and support, we are certain Brian will be missed by everyone who knew him.
