Carroll Richard “Rick” Copeland, Sr. died Saturday October 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving wife Dorothy and family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born, raised and educated in Edenton, North Carolina a son of Carolyn Austin of Springfield, MA. He headed north when he was sixteen and lived in Boston and Brockton before moving to Taunton thirty years ago.
Rick had been a respected automobile salesman for several local dealerships for many years. He made many friends who enjoyed his southern accent.
Rick enjoyed playing cards, word search puzzles, playing pool, basketball and cleaning and detailing cars. He will be remembered as a hard worker and easy going man who loved spending time with wife, children and grandchildren and his many friends. He enjoyed the times his daughter took him for pedicures.
In addition to his wife Dottie and his mother Carolyn, Rick is survived by his children Tamika Copeland of Boston, Katrina Jackson of Stoughton, Karl Terry of PA, Talisha Copeland of Rockland, Shadawn Cromwell of Boston, Sharod Hopkins of Fall River, Carroll Richard Copeland, Jr. of Brockton, Lacy Copeland of Taunton, Kyle Gerry of Brockton, Ryckayla Copeland of Springfield, James Copeland of New Bedford and Calvin Copeland of New Bedford. He was the brother of James Copeland of Edenton, NC; Teresa Austin of Springfield and the late Van Austin and Calvin Austin. He also leaves a host of grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Saturday October 23, 2021, 2-4 pm followed by a Service in the funeral home at 4pm.
