Gerene L. Mayo, 79

Dateline: North Attleboro, MA

Gerene L. (LeBlanc) Mayo, age 79, recently of North Attleboro, formerly of Plainville and Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 15, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick G. Mayo, to whom she was wed for forty years at the time of his death on August 14, 2000.

Born in Boston, MA on February 1, 1942, she was a loving daughter of the late Raymond H. and Evelyn J. (Fitzpatrick) LeBlanc.

Gerene grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Boston Public Schools. She was a dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter.

A woman of strong religious faith, Mrs. Mayo was also an avid golfer, was passionate about her painting skills and will always be remembered for the special place in her heart for animals.

She is survived by her devoted children: Frederick G. Mayo, Jr. of New Hampshire, Susan M. O’Leary of Maine, Gerene Prilutsky and her husband Boris of Brookline, Patricia H. Sherman of North Attleboro and Helen F. Thatcher and her husband David, Sr. of North Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Kimberly Snowman, Robert Snowman, Patrick O’Leary, Kevin O’Leary, Rachel Thatcher, Zachary Sherman, David Thatcher, Jr., Alyson Carpeno and her husband Giovanni, Kristina Blodgett and her husband Josh, Hope Mayo, Jacob Sherman and the great grandmother of Lucciana Mae Carpeno. She was the dear sister of Raymond L. LeBlanc and his wife Barbara of Florida and the late Joseph R. LeBlanc, who is survived by his wife Mary LeBlanc of New York. She was the stepsister of Barry Andrews and his wife Jeannie of Norton and the late David Andrews, Donald Andrews, Frances Alford, Patricia Rice and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, October 19th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 20th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, Gerene’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 1324 Belmont Street, Suite 202, Brockton, MA 02301.
