Mrs. Dorminy was born November 7, 1935, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Freeman C. & Vera Whaley Fulford. She was a 1953 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. After her marriage to the late Alvie Dorminy, the couple moved to Atlanta where Mrs. Dorminy worked for National Bank. Their fondness for Fitzgerald caused them to return and make their life in the community they loved. Together they served this community for over 50 years of marriage. She worked for First State Bank and National Bank in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Dorminy owned and operated Gingham Garden & Gift Shop for many years. She loved cooking and gardening. Many will remember a meal they enjoyed that was prepared by Mrs. Dorminy whether it was the Elks Lodge, the Country Club, a Wednesday evening at First Baptist Church, or one of the many events she catered. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday school class.

She is survived by children and their spouses: Mark (Cindy) Dorminy of Nashville, Tennessee and Lisa (David) Evans of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Dave (Mary Brett) Evans of Sarasota, Florida, Jake (Charli) Evans of Cordele, and Madeline Rose Dorminy of Nashville, Tennessee; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Love Evans; and three sisters: Frances Stokes & Billy of Sautee Nacoochee, and JoAnn Tucker and Ollie Brown, both of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie Dorminy; and two brothers: Whaley Fulford and Jerry Fulford.

The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care and attention given to Mrs. Dorminy by the staff of The Magnolia Place as well as the nurses and staff of Pruitt Hospice.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to A Bible For All Ministry, providing Bibles to foster children, 288 Benjamin Hill Drive SW, Suite 2, Fitzgerald, GA 31750, or to Vanderbilt Neurology Parkinson’s Research Fund, A-1131 MCN, Nashville, TN 37232 or to First Baptist Church, P.O.
