George Samuel "Buddy" Ward, III, 56, of Tewksbury, passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.
He was born in Somerville, MA on September 3, 1965 and was a son of the late George Samuel Ward, Jr. and the late Deborah Kay (Gillis) Ward. He was raised in Tewksbury, where he attended the area schools, graduating from Tewksbury Memorial High School with the class of 1983, where he was a standout football player and member of a few of the renowned Redmen teams of the 1980's.
Buddy was a contractor his entire life and owned and operated GW Siding for many years. He also enjoyed playing softball on Sundays for many many years in Tewksbury and riding his motorcycle. Above all else, his daughter, Olivia, was his pride and joy. Liv, as he called her, was the light of his life and she made him a better man. Buddy never missed a sporting event or school function when Olivia needed him, he did more than most parents are capable of doing all on his own. Simply put, Olivia was the best part of Buddy's life and will remain the most important and enduring part of his legacy.
Buddy is survived by his beloved daughter, Olivia Ward of Tewksbury and his siblings, Kelly Oleson and her husband, Frederick of Nashua, NH, Kevin Ward and his wife, Heather of Tewksbury, and Jill Ward of Westford. He is also survived by his six nieces, Cordae, Sarah, Madeline, Margaret, Annabel, and Lindsey, his aunt, Jeri Tait of Scituate, his uncle, David Gillis and his wife, Diane of Scituate as well as many extended family and cousins. Of course, he is also survived by his 2 cherished dogs, Sophie and Grayson, by whom he will be sorely missed.
On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 3-7 p.m. at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury 978-851-2061.
His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 7 p.m..
