Gaffney, SC - - Alice Marie Harper, 66, of 259 Goldmine Springs Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Cherokee Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating.
Born in Ocilla, Ga, she was the daughter of the late Eston Russell Harper and Neomia Youghn Harper. Marie enjoyed reading, shopping, crocheting, sewing and cooking. She also enjoyed taking care of people. She was retired from the Health Department of Georgia and was a member of Ocilla Church of God and attended True Direction Church of God.
Surviving are two sons, Chad Hendricks (Maureen) of Cumming, GA and Adam Harper (Jackie) of Fitzgerald, GA; a daughter, Rebekah Harper of Athens, GA; two sisters, Linda Haire (Ron) of Gaffney and Velma Ray Reid of Eufala, AL; three grandchildren, Aubrey Neomia Hendricks, Jaidyn Ziegler and Elizabeth Rose Harper; a sister-in-law, Sherry Harper of Tifton, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Harper.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at True Direction Church of God with Reverend Stephen Anderson and Reverend Richard Sellars. The family will receive friends after the service at the Church.
