Donald J. Almeida, 89, of East Bridgewater, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband to Louise (Cogliano) Almeida.
Born in New Bedford he was the son of the late Joseph and Aurora (Genereux) Almeida.
He served in the United States Navy for 10 years. Then went into banking. He worked as Assistant Treasurer for Suffolk Franklin Saving Bank and was a Bank Manager for Quincy Savings Bank, until retiring.
In addition to his wife Louise, of 64 years he is survived by his son James Almeida and his wife Allison, his daughter Ruth Ann Fairburn and his son Donald Almeida, Jr., his grandchildren, Donald Fairburn, Elizabeth Fairburn, Daniel Fairburn and his wife Briana and Christie Almeida, also great grand-daughter Cassidy Elizabeth Fairburn. Brother of William Almeida and his wife Joyce of CA. and the late Lois Lambalot and Robert Almeida.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday October 21st at 10:30AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman followed by a burial in St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be held 9:00-10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.
