Joan Rita ( Johnson) Pise, 86, longtime resident of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8 th, 2021. Joan is predeceased by her late husband, John, who passed away in 2016. Born on August 20 th, 1935, she was the daughter of Forrest and Celeste ( Fregeau ) Johnson. She lived in West Springfield until moving to Springfield in 1955, and then to Chicopee in 1964. She had been living in Longmeadow since 2019. Joan had worked at Spaldings in Chicopee, and over 25 years at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks. Throughout her life, Joan enjoyed arts and crafts, often painting, making flower arrangements, and baking many beautiful wedding cakes.
Joan leaves to cherish her memory, four children: John J. Pise, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of South Hadley, David M. Pise and his wife, Deborah, of Chicopee, Deborah A. (Pise) Roberts of Chicopee, and Daniel P. Pise and his partner, Amy, of Chicopee. She leaves five grandchildren: Jennifer (Pise) Reid, Nickolas Roberts, Michael Pise, Lisa (Pise) Machado, and Amanda Pise; as well as two great-grandchildren: Alistair Reid and Scarlett Machado. Joan leaves her sister Janet (Johnson) D’Agata; and is predeceased by her sisters Patricia (Johnson) Brown and Celest (Johnson) Cybulski, her brother Richard Johnson, and her grandson Kyle Roberts. Special thanks to her nephew Robert Brown and wife Judy for their help during these tough times. Joan also leaves many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Joan had requested that there be no calling hours to mourn her passing, but for all who knew her to, in their own way, remember her in happier days. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St, Chicopee followed by burial in St Rose de Lima Cemetery. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
