Mary Ann (Griffin) Stommel passed away on October 4, 2021. The daughter of Richard Griffin and Laura (Christensen) Griffin, she was born and raised in Cumberland, Maine, and her heart remained there through her life as she visited as frequently as life allowed.
Mary Ann graduated from Centenary Junior College for Women (now Centenary University), and worked for AT&T in New York City before marriage and a family. She raised her children and was an active volunteer for several organizations in Darien, Connecticut. Subsequently, Mary Ann worked for Bank of Boston and moved to Norwalk, Connecticut, then Tomball, Texas, and finally to Massachusetts in 2011. She had many friends and was a vibrant member of the Golden Pond (Hopkinton, MA), community from 2013 until very recently.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her son, Eric Stommel. She is survived by her daughter, Kirsten Gonneville, and granddaughters, Brinley and Jensen Gonneville, all of Barrington, Rhode Island, and her sister, Petrina Goepfert of Houston, Texas, along with nieces and a nephew.
A private family graveside service will be held in Falmouth, Maine.
