Porter - Asa L. Cressey, 85, of Porter died on October 11, 2021 at Bella Point Nursing Home in Fryeburg. He was born on March 27, 1936 a son of Leon and Marjorie (Noble) Cressey and attended local schools. He married Marjorie Drowns on November 11, 1961.
Asa was always a hard worker. As a young man he worked in the woods with his father. Later he worked for many years at both Gunters Mill in Steep Falls and Woods Mill in East Baldwin. He ended his career working for Robert Libby as a logger.
Asa enjoyed fishing in his spare time and loved to go dancing with Marjorie in their younger years. He also liked to cut, split and sell his own firewood. He liked yard sales, both buying and selling things, going out to eat, and especially liked to have a cold beer. Asa also loved animals, including his several dogs over the years. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Besides his parents and his beloved wife Marjorie, he is also predeceased by several siblings, and three grandsons: Heath Verrill, Dustin Verrill and Rory Boewe. Surviving are his three children: Debbie Verrill and husband Dale of Brownfield, Donald Cressey and wife Anna of Porter and Scott Cressey and wife Lisa of Oxford. Three grandchildren: Derek Verrill, Asa Cressey and Heidi Cressey. Three step grandchildren: Dean, Blake and Eric Toussaint, as well as several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be an hour of visitation on Friday, October 22, from 12 to 1 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Poitras, Neal and York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish.
