Obituary

Esther V. (MacLean) Ronca 94, of Medway passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021 at the Timothy Daniels Nursing Home in Holliston, surrounded by her loving family. Esther was the daughter of James F. and Ruth (Fales) MacLean, and the beloved wife of the late Leo W. Ronca who died in 1980, and mother of the late Susan (Ronca) Guilmain. She is survived by her sons William S. Ronca and his wife Carolyn of Franklin, MA and David M. Ronca of St. Mary, FL.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, Lisa Luccini, Kelly Tucker, Jason Ronca, Brandon Ronca, Richard Ronca, Brian Ronca and Thomas Ronca. She was the grandmother of the late William Ronca Jr. She is also survived by her brother James D. MacLean of Hopedale and her seven great-grandchildren.

Born in Milford on July 5, 1927 and raised in Hopedale, Esther graduated from Hopedale High in 1945. She moved to Medway in 1960 to raise her family. Esther was employed for many years at Zayre Corporation in Framingham working with the VP of Marketing. She also worked at Macy’s in Natick. She loved traveling and visited both Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed trips to Florida to visit friends but above all, she most enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid reader of murder-mystery novels and finished books at an amazing speed, only to re-read them a few more times before passing them on. Esther always looked forward to family cookouts and gatherings during the holidays, especially the July 4th party at her son’s home each year.

Esther will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. She loved a good laugh over a game of cards or RummyQ and especially enjoyed a family meal around her kitchen table. Family was everything to Esther and she was so proud to show pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to her friends at Cornerstone in Milford.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, October 16th at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) from 9 - 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Vernon Grove Cemetery in Milford.
