Obituary

Donald Burbank, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Palm Center Nursing Home. He was born in Lowell on July 17, 1933 to Albert and Florence Burbank. Donald was well-liked among his neighbors and friends. He was considered a good neighbor because he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was a hunter since his teens and always had his lab by his side. Donald was a tree surgeon in his own business for almost 50 years. He was well-known and liked among workers in the Greater Lowell cemeteries and around the grounds of UMass Lowell.

Surviving Donald is a brother, John Burbank; a sister, Elizabeth Quigley and her husband, William; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Burbank.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brother, Robert Burbank; nieces, Carolann (Burbank) Lysy and Cindy Burbank; nephew, Danny Burbank, and longtime friends, Peter Ennis and Paul Mueller.

Donald has many nieces and nephews and he took an interest in their lives, but he was especially close to his nephew, Richard Burbank and his wife, Lori, who were always concerned about his welfare. Among his friends, two longtime friends, Georgi Mueller and Mike Massa, held a special place in his heart. The family is grateful to them for their help during these last few years.

The family would also like to thank his private nurse, Marybeth Quigley, who gave him excellent care during his final days at home.

On Saturday, October 16, 2021 a graveside service will be held at Lowell.Cemetery, 77 Knapp Ave., Lowell, MA at 11 a.m. conducted by Fr. Charles Breault OMI, a close friend of Donald’s. Enter the cemetery by the Knapp Ave entrance.

We will meet just inside the gate at 11 a.m. then proceed together to the gravesite. The gravesite is on Washington Ave.
