Mary A. (Reilly) Dewey, a true Townie for 101 years, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at her home in Charlestown.
Mary was born at home in Charlestown on February 4, 1920, a daughter of the late Edward J. Reilly and Isabella F. (Ginty) Reilly. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1937. Mary worked as a candy packer for the Schraffts Candy Company for 21 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to Foxwoods, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late Laurence A. "Larry" Dewey. She is the devoted mother of Mary Jane Junta and her late husband Tom, William "Billy" Dewey, and the late Laurence E. "Larry" Dewey and John A. "Jackie" Dewey. She is the loving Nana of Michael A. Dewey and his wife Cara, Veronica Dewey, Nanci Dewey and her partner Mike McKenna, and to her great-grandchildren Charlotte, Max, Desmond, and Holden. She is the beloved sister of the late Charles Reilly, Edward Reilly, William Reilly, and Joseph Reilly. She is the beloved mother-in-law of Nancy Dewey. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be held on Monday October 11, 2021 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
