Lilianne Y. Rainville, 96, of Stillwater Road, Smithfield passed away on Saturday October 2nd in Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard H. “Jerry” Rainville. They had been married for 66 years.
Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Ernest and Fernande (Goval) Bordes. She had lived in Smithfield since 1950 previously living in Woonsocket.
Lilianne had been the Treasurer and Tax Collector for the Town of Smithfield for 27 years retiring in 1985.
Lilianne loved to remember her childhood, ice skating as a girl, her enjoyment of her high school years, the great fun she had working at the “Canteen” in Woonsocket during the war. She loved her faith, her family and her siblings very much, she was always hospitable and eager for get-togethers. She loved making jigsaw puzzles, playing scrabble, traveling, listening to music, singing, crosswords and decorating her home.
A sunny day would put her on top of the world !
She leaves her son Jeffrey C. Rainville and his wife Jayne of Smithfield, RI. She also leaves her grandchildren, Jennifer Robitaille and her husband Thomas of North Scituate, RI, Jacob Rainville of North Kingstown, RI and Jessica Rainville of Johnston, RI, her great-grandchildren, Samantha Kerwin and her husband Mitchell of Smithfield, RI and Shelby Rudis and her husband Joseph of Johnston, RI and Great-Great grandchildren Wesley Rudis, Jorgie Rudis, Cameron Kerwin and Jaxon Kerwin. She was the sister of Charlotte Leblanc of West Harwich, MA, Claudette Piette, North Smithfield, RI, Marcelle (Sister Letitia) Bordes of San Bruno, CA, Henriette Andrade of East Providence, RI, Michelle Klingbeil of Northfield, OH and Gilbert Bordes. She was the sister of the late Madeline Delker, Jeanette (Sister Mary Damiana) Bordes and Earnest (Bud) Bordes.
Her funeral was private. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
