Obituary

Adelina J. (DeVita) Scarpelli passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday night. She was 75. Born and raised in Lappano, Cosenza, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Nice' (Scarpelli) DeVita.

Adelina came to the United States with her family when she was 11 years old. They settled in Charlestown where she lived until moving to Medford where she and her husband Aldo went about raising their family. Adelina was devoted to her family and was at her happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was active at St. Francis Parish for many years and was a member of the Mothers club. She and Aldo would regularly prepare large pasta dinners for parish fundraisers. She worked for many years with the famed J. Pace Company as a catering chef. She will always be remembered for her kind smile and welcoming manner, always welcoming her beloved family and many friends.

The beloved wife of the late Aldo Scarpelli who passed away in 2015, Adelina was the devoted mother of Gina Prisco and her husband Michael of Andover, George Scarpelli and his wife Dina of Medford, Lisa Scire’ and her husband Frank of Stoneham, and John Scarpelli of Medford. She was a loving grandmother to Matthew, Michela, Nicholas, Catherine, John Peter, Talia, Gianna and Frankie. The dear sister of Mario DeVita and Rosetta DeVita of Medford, Elena Caravetta of Chicago, the late Michele, Pietro, Giovanni DeVita and Maria Greco, she leaves many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Monday, October 11th from 4 - 8 PM and again on Tuesday morning at 9 with a procession to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
