Joseph F. Ricardo
Tewksbury Hospital Retiree

TEWKSBURY: Joseph F. Ricardo, age 72, a resident of Tewksbury for over 65 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Born in Cambridge on February 14, 1949, he was the son of the late Joseph Ricardo and the late Alda C. (Pimentel) Ricardo.

Joe was raised in Somerville and Tewksbury. He attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from John T. Berry School in Reading.

Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Tewksbury Hospital for 35 years, as a herdsman on the former dairy farm, he filled in when needed at the former poultry farm and had worked as boiler operator at the hospital’s boiler plant.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing, woodworking, model trains, and recently took up painting. Joe also enjoyed tinkering with mechanical devices and could fix nearly any household item that required repair.

Joe will lovingly be remembered for his humor and practical jokes.

He is survived by his siblings, Linda A. Brabant, of Tewksbury, John V. Ricardo and his husband Paul Bellevue, of Tewksbury, David S. Ricardo and his wife Jayne, of Hollis, NH, and Paul Ricardo and his significant other Sandy of Vermont. He also leaves his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family members.

The Ricardo family would like to thank Susan Graves, R.N. as well as the staff Tewksbury Hospital and his home caregivers.

Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 9th, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Private burial of Joe’s ashes will be at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring his memory may be made to the Tewksbury Hospital Patients Fund, 365 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876
