Kathlene V. Giampa
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother


TEWKSBURY: Kathlene V. (Tipton) Giampa, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for over 25 years, formerly of Somerville, passed away at her home in the care of her family and hospice on Friday, October 1, 2021.

She was the beloved wife of Silvio “Phil” Giampa, with whom she celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2021.

Born in Somerville on July 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William Tipton and the late Kathreen (Manning) Tipton.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Chef by the Somerville High School.

Kathlene was a communicant of St. William of York Parish in Tewksbury.

She was a member of the Tewksbury Senior Center, where she attended quilting classes and other events. Kathlene gifted many hand made quilts to her family and loved making crocheted blankets for every new baby in the family.

In her early years, she took up physical fitness and running. She attended her gym weekly and ran numerous road races.

She loved cooking big Italian meals and shared her love of cooking with all the family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Phillip S. Giampa and his wife Megan of New Boston, NH, and Kathy A. Kakleas and her husband Stanley of Tewksbury: eight grandchildren, Stefanie O’Connor, Angela Giampa, Phillip Giampa, Anthony Giampa, Kristopher Kakleas, Karissa Kakleas, Chase Giampa and Olivia Giampa: two great grandchildren, Tessa Rose O’Connor and Callen O’Connor.
She also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Calling hours for Kathlene will be Thursday, October 7th, 2021, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. William of York Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Donations honoring her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015 or online at www.stjude.org
