Obituary

Michajlo “Mike”/”Mile” Gorgievski, 63, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 after a brief illness.
Mr. Gorgievski is survived by his dear brothers, Toma and Blagoj Gorgievski; brother-in-law, Mladen Gjakovski; five nieces and nephews, Sonja (Gjakovski) Pisarczyk and her husband, James, Nicholas Gorgievski and his wife, Patricia, Michael Gorgievski, Elizabeth (Gorgievski) McCarthy and her husband, Ryan, and Jovan Gorgievski; six great-nieces and nephews, Kate and Mia Gorgievski, Brayden Gorgievski, Bradley, Molly and John McCarthy; many cousins; and his beloved cat, Tootsie.
His cherished sister, Jelica (Gorgievski) Gjakovski predeceased him in April 1997 and sister-in-law, Divna (Djordjevic) Gorgievski predeceased him in January 2012.
Mike was born in Bitola, North Macedonia (former Yugoslavia), the son of the late Jovan and Jelena (Culeva) Gorgievski. In 1968, Mike traveled from his homeland with his family to the U.S.; he was ten years old and full of wonder. In this new world, every new experience was a new adventure. He quickly learned the language, joined clubs and organizations and played and excelled in a myriad of sports, and formed life long friendships. An avid sports fan, Mike often watched and cheered the hometown teams, from the Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox, often sporting a hat with their insignia. Mike especially enjoyed deep sea fishing with friends and family alike.
Upon graduating from Doherty High School, Mike pursued his passion in the culinary arts. His talents would take him to work for many restaurants across MA and RI. Over the years, he developed a love for pizza and the pizza business. He became a master of his craft; his sandwiches, grinders, and pizzas were legendary. He worked hard and took pride in his work.
Together with his brothers, Blagoj and Toma, he helped create Brothers Pizza in Clinton, MA. There, he often greeted guests and shared stories with them as he prepared their meals. Every customer who entered would leave as a friend. Mike was bold, boisterous and unapologetically opinionated. He could discuss anything from politics to sports and everything in between. Most of all, Mike was a ‘champion of the underdog’. He had a big heart, open arms and a kind soul; he would often lend a hand and give a warm meal to those in need.
Always loved, Mike will be deeply missed. His spirit of giving will always be with us.
His funeral is Wednesday, October 6th with a service at 11:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by a graveside service at 12:00 p.m. in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, October 5th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
