In Providence, Marie (DeSousa) Stratton, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2021. Marie was the loving and devoted wife of forty nine years to Richard Stratton of Taunton. She was born in Winthrop, MA, the daughter of the late Louis & Maria (DeJesus) DeSousa.
Marie had resided most of her life in Taunton and was educated in Fall River catholic schools. Marie was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church in North Dighton. She had a strong faith, which she led by example with her family. Marie loved hosting holidays, her morning coffee, shopping with her daughters, taking care of her grandchildren, attending mass, gardening and tending to her feathered friends that would flock to her yard. Marie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and nana who always put everyone first and above all cherished her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Richard, Marie leaves her children; Robert Stratton and wife Michelle of Norton, Christine Milligan and her late husband Michael of Taunton and Ingrid O’Connell and husband William of Dighton, her grandchildren; Kate, Jaclyn, Lauren, William O’Connell and James and Mackenzie Milligan, her siblings; Theresa Kwaiter of Taunton and Louis DeSousa of New Bedford. Marie also leaves her beloved niece Susan Sadler and nephew Robert Kwaiter and many loving cousins.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in North Dighton on Thursday, October 7th at 11am. Visiting hours are kindly omitted. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
