Albina A. (Grubenskas) Smith, 90, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, April 11. She was the wife of the late Joseph Smith. Born in South Boston, she was educated in Stoughton Schools. Mrs. Smith was a resident of Stoughton for 85 years. She was a weaver at JW Wood Kendall Co. for many years before retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of the Lithuanian Women’s Club and the Dorchester Yacht Club.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Carol Merriam of Norton, her grandson, Niles Merriam and his wife Lisa and her great-grandchildren, Steven and Melissa Merriam. She was the sister of Lillian Cohenno and Kay Grubenskas both of Stoughton and the late John Grubenskas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear friend Vety Strimitis.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, April 14 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Blessing at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8 PM. A Pro-burial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
