Obituary

Joanne (Doe) Sperr died on Monday, April 10 at her home at Brooksby Village in Peabody. She was 67 years old. A Needham resident for 44 years, she and her husband had been a resident of Brooksby Village for 2 years. Born in Jay, Maine, Mrs. Sperr grew up in Rochester, NH. She attended Plymouth Teachers College and graduated summa cum laude with a BS degree from Gordon College in 1961. In 1970 she received a Masters in Education from Northeastern University. Mrs. Sperr taught reading and remedial reading for the Dedham Elementary Schools for 21 years, retiring in 1993. She was listed in the Who’s Who of American Women in 1995. Mrs. Spree was one of the Founders of Fine Mortuary College Inc of Norwood and is currently a member of the Board of Directors. She was a member of Needham Historical Society and the Good Shepherd Christian Fellowship Church in Needham. Beloved wife for over 47 years of William F. Sperr. Loving mother of Bruce J. Sperr of Beverly, Cheri L. Sperr of Middleton and Bonnie L. Veller of Aurora, CA. Sister of Sandra Whitney of South Hadley and the Rev. Kendrick Doe of Harvard, MA. Dear grandmother of Robb, Tori, Seth, Molly, Kayleen and Bryce. Funeral Services at the Good Shepherd Christian Fellowship at The Greendale Ave Worship Center, 754 Greendale Ave Needham on Friday April 14th at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that people send donations to either of these places, which reflect their love for mom and her love of others; Donations payable to John Hopkins University, c/o Ralph H.
