Obituary

Blizard Sr., Charles K. of Dedham and Harwich. On September 29, Charles toasted his final glass of wine with Norma by his side at their summer home on Cape Cod, his beloved wife of over 62 years. He was 82 years old.

Charles Kingsley Blizard Sr. was born on August 4, 1939 in Pennsylvania, Son of late Gordon F. Blizard and Zoe Virginia Kingsley attended Upper Morland High School where he met the love of is life Norma M. Brackin, married on April 4, 1959 this past Spring celebrated 62 years of wedded bliss. Over the years Charles and Norma Started a family and resided in Hatboro, PA, North Plainfield, NJ and finally settling in Dedham MA in 1971.

He went on to Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA with a degree in Electrical Engineering (Power) while working for Philadelphia Electric (PECO) beginning his career in the Electrical Testing division. After graduation he left the Utility and spent his professional life in the Electrical Power industry eventually starting American Electrical Testing Company Inc. in 1981. He was a member representative and served on the Board of Directors of the International Electrical Testing Association (NETA) for over 20 years, Serving as President, Secretary, Membership Chair, and member of the Standard Review Council. He was a member of the NFPA and represented NETA on the National Fire Protection Association National Electrical Code as a member of Code Making Panel 10 for several code cycles.

There was so much more to Charles than his professional accomplishments. He loved his time on the ball fields and rinks whether it was baseball, football, ice hockey or soccer rooting for his children and grandchildren. He loved his Patriots on Sundays and in later years a good glass of wine in front of his fireplace reading books or doing crossword puzzles.

It was hard to find a place that Charles and Norma cherished more than Cape Cod. Summers would find Norma and him entertaining family and friends all summer long enjoying the quiet solitude of Great Sand Lakes in East Harwich or dining at their favorite restaurants.

Charles K. Blizard Sr. is survived by his wife, Norma, his four children, Scott A. Blizard and Laurie of Cotuit, MA, Charles K. Blizard Jr. and Lisa of Dover, MA, Carolyn A. Maloney and Patrick of Dedham, MA and Robert J. Blizard and Mary-Kate of Canton, MA. Charles was the proud Pop-Pop to 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM on Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 4:00-7:00pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A private family burial will be held at Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021.
