Obituary

Our hearts are broken.

Scott Louis Menangas was called home on September 26, 2021. He was the son of Gerard and Linda (Motto) Menangas of Provincetown.

Born on March 26, 1980 at Cape Cod Hospital, he spent all his life on Cape Cod, mostly in Provincetown where he graduated from Provincetown High School. A star athlete, Scott wore his Orange and Black with pride. In his senior year, he joined the 1000-point club, ending with 1,285. He received the VFW’s Outstanding Athlete trophy in three sports. He was selected to participate in the Cape Cod Classics in Soccer - grade 12 - Basketball - grades 10, 11, 12 - Baseball - grades 11, 12. He was selected to the Cape and Islands All-Star teams in Basketball - grades 10, 11, 12 and Baseball - grades 11, 12. He went on to graduate from Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Not one to sit still, he followed in the footsteps of many great uncles and found his passion in carpentry.

Scott is survived by his heartbroken father, Gerard and stepmother, Kathy; sister, Stephanie Menangas and her husband Ryan Tileston; daughter, Ayda; nephews, Gage and Bryce; nieces Avery and Kenley and partner, Lara Wagner. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, many loving cousins and good friends.

For the past fourteen years, Scott has struggled on September first, the anniversary of his mom’s passing. We pray he is finding peace in her loving arms.

Remembrances about Scott include “He will be remembered as a gifted athlete, a solid teammate and a friend to all.” “I looked up to this man growing up.” “He taught me so much.” “He was a great person.” “I have a vivid recollection of a picture I took of Scott and my daughter, dressed up for their first communion, and walking down the aisle of the ‘old’ Saint Peter’s Church. “Rest in Peace handsome Scott.” “Scotty was like a little brother to me.” “He was such a good kid always caring about everyone.” “You were such an awesome guy. You didn’t have a mean bone in your body.” “My birthday cousin - my birthday will never be the same. My heart hurts for the love of his life - a forever valentine, born on February 10, 2007 - his daughter, Ayda Marie.”

Remember to always stay humble and kind.

Calling hours for Scott will be on Wednesday, October 6th from 4 to 7 pm at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown. Burial in St Peters Cemetery, will be private.
