Obituary

On September 14, 2021, Linda Kay Mehrer finally beat cancer, and ran pain free, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Linda was born February 8th, 1944 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Lee and Millie Holmes. In 1954 they homesteaded in Othello WA where she spent her childhood and graduated from Othello High School in 1962. Later that fall, she started college in Moscow Idaho, but left early to marry Joe Mehrer in February 1963.
Together they moved to Prosser. Early in their marriage, they moved to Marysville but after three years, they decided the city life was not for them and they moved back to Prosser where they raised their four children and farmed for thirty-four years. During that time Linda worked for the Prosser School District in the Special Ed Department. Linda coached Special Olympics for many years. After “retiring” she purchased Curves Gym in Prosser where she worked for six more years.
Linda was very involved in her church. She taught Sunday school for many years, led groups and held bible study in her home until just a week before her passing. She went on numerous mission trips spreading her love for Jesus. Linda loved the Lord and it showed in every aspect of her life.
Linda loved spending time with her family and friends. She cherished every visit with her grandbabies.
She is survived by her three children, Lester (Melissa) Mehrer-Pasco, Lori (Charlie) Roberts-Kennewick and Craig (Melissa) Mehrer-Benton City; brother, Pastor Bill Holmes-Carpenter S.D., sisters, Sharon (Phil) Elgert-Kennewick, and Carol (Clint) Bridges-Moses Lake and her brother in-law, Al (Karen) Mehrer of Novato CA; twelve Grandchildren, twenty-one Great Grandchildren, two Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Joe Mehrer; her son Curtis Mehrer; her parents, Lee and Mille Holmes; and her sister in-law, Patricia Holmes.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 2nd at the Grandview Nazarene Church. In lieu of flowers, Linda would love if you made donations to the Grandview Nazarene Children’s Ministry. You may leave a message for the family at www.Prosserfuneralhome.com
