Mrs. Nelle Grace Burden, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Church Of The Nazarene in Fitzgerald, with Rev. James Hubbard and Rev. Dan Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burden was born January 28, 1930, in Osierfield, Georgia to the late Willis D. and Nellie Walsh Lewis. She lived in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties most of her life and was a 1946 graduate of Ocilla High School. Mrs. Burden was retired owner/operator of Burden’s Grocery, Tire Service & Used Cars in Osierfield and a former employee of People’s Bank, the Uh-Oh Outlet and the Life Care Center, all in Fitzgerald. She was a member of The Church Of The Nazarene.
Mrs. Burden is survived by several nieces and nephews: Madie Denton, Wayne Lewis and Brenda McLemore, all of Osierfield and Tommy Lewis of Waycross; several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Horace Burden; her son Johnny Burden; and three brothers.
