Obituary

Roger W. Howlett, of Raynham passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the age of 88 with his family by his side. He was a longtime resident of Raynham, having moved there in 1960 to raise his family. He was born in Boston, the second son of the late Nelson & Esther (Hickey) Howlett. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Roger served in the Korean War earning numerous medals including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Roger had several varied and independent careers during his lifetime. Following his graduation from Curry College, Roger worked as a general salesman for the pharmaceutical company, Mead Johnson. Following that he founded the Heritage Gift Shop in Raynham and which he later transformed to a local independent pharmacy, the Raynham Prescription Center. Roger worked as a Real Estate Agent for several local firms and eventually opened his own office, Howlett Real Estate Services. His work in the real estate industry led him to real estate appraisals and he established R&H Appraisals with an office near his home in Raynham. His semi-retirement career was as a Facilities Manager for Unified Networking Solutions. Roger dedicated many years as a public servant serving on the Board of Assessors for the town on Raynham from the 1960’s through the 1990’s. Roger was an avid golfer, sports fan and loved to drive around town to chat with his many friends and acquaintances.
He was the loving husband of the late Helen G. Howlett, and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Roger & Ann-Marie Howlett of Mattapoisett, MA; daughter and son-in-law Lisa & Howard Cathcart of Raynham, MA; and daughter and son-in-law Valerie & Chris Hoffman of Yucca Valley, CA. He is predeceased by his older brother the late Nelson Howlett of Merced, CA who also recently peacefully passed away this week at the age of 91. Roger has five loving grandchildren, Brian McDonald and his wife Amanda of Raynham, Rachel McDonald of Providence, RI, Ashley Howlett of Portsmouth, RI, Jesse Cathcart of Raynham and the late Joshua Cathcart. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and many that considered him family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, September 30th from 4-7pm. at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 1st at St. Ann’s Church in Raynham at 11am. Burial will be in Pleasant St. Cemetery in Raynham.
