Obituary

William M. Harkins, 68, of Westport passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was husband of Jacqueline F. (Marmen) Harkins.

Born in Boston, son of the late Joseph and Jean (Thorndike) Harkins, he had lived in Westport for over 30 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement in 2017, he has a 35 year technical career at Tabor Academy. He was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mr. Harkins was a member of the American Legion and the Westport Business to Business, was the treasurer of the MA Ferret Friends and also served a term on the Westport Board of Health. He was very patriotic, had a great sense of humor and had a deep love for his family.

Including his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Nicole M. Harkins of Fall River and Alexis A. Harkins of RI; 7 sisters: Veronica Harkins, Kathleen Haarala, Margaret Affonso, Marianne Medeiros, Eileen Zora, Jean Cushing and Elizabeth Pope; a brother: Michael Harkins; a grandson: Devin G. Cardoso; and several nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Joseph Harkins.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, September 25, 2021 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Friday 4 - 7 P.M.

Burial will be private.
