Theresa (Ponte) Doyle, 90, of New Bedford died September 22, 2021 peacefully after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Oliva L. Doyle.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Jesse and Elizabeth (Borque) Ponte, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, dancing, coloring and sewing.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Michael Doyle and his wife Habiba of St. Simon's Island, GA and Robert Doyle and his wife Erica of Wareham; 3 daughters, Janet St. Gelais of Acushnet, Diane Safioleas and her husband Bryan of New Bedford and Cathrine Doyle of Fairhaven; a sister, Joann Ponte Keefe and her husband John of Little Compton, RI; 16 grandchildren, Kelly Doyle, Stephanie Doyle, Elizabeth Doyle, Joshua St. Gelais and his wife Kerri, Jesse St. Gelais and his wife Tess, Ashlyn Teixeira and her husband Jay, Cody Carmo, Nikolas Safioleas, Michael Doyle and his wife Enid, David Doyle, Johnathan Doyle and his wife Rachel, Meagan Smith and her husband Brandon, Brittany Doyle, Brandon Assaf, Jay Velazques and Draven Doyle; 20 great-grandchildren, Colby, Cali, Olivia, Jaiden, Tysen, Oliver, Autumn, Aria, Ben, Jameson, Madison, Leila, Michael, Luke, Jacob, Isla, Andrew, Ayden, Leo, Elias and Corrine; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Raylee, Jonathan and Saylor; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Steven Doyle, great-grandmother of the late Tyler and Nicholas and sister of the late Arnold Ponte.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday, September 27th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, September 26th from 4-7 PM.
