Cassie L. Stewart, 84, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home on September 21 after a courageous struggle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Katherine and Andrew Stewart. Cassie Was born in Washington, North Carolina and also spent part of her youth in Augusta, Georgia before moving to Worcester in 1960 with her long-time friend, Pat Scoggins.
Cassie is survived by her dear sister, Joyce Pinelli; her brother-in-law, Frank; her nephew, Frankie; and their extended family of Pittsburgh, PA. She also leaves many friends, including her very dear and devoted friends, Lydie Guilbert of Worcester, Nancy David and April Mellen of Millbury; and Pat Scoggins of Augusta, Georgia. She was predeceased by her brother, James and sister, Doris Stewart; and her long-time close friend and companion, Margaret “Peg” Hall.
Cassie worked at several manufacturing companies in Worcester, most specifically at Parker Manufacturing for 15 ½ years and N.E.D. for 16 ½ years. She enjoyed rooting for the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers and always had a friendly bet with her brother-in-law Frank. When the two teams opposed each other. Cassie also enjoyed playing cards with friends and trips to the Casino to play the “slots.” She knew the words to just about any song, loved telling seemingly endless stories, and was always the life of any gathering with friends.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24th in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
