Obituary

WORCESTER-James H. Byrne, 81, of 2 Bellvista Road, died Monday, April 10th in the St. Francis Home. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Frances T. (Healey) Byrne, a son John F. Byrne of Holden, 6 daughters, Maureen Veshi of Sterling, Nancy Byrne, Kathleen DiStefano, Marie Pappas and Eileen Gregoire all of Worcester and Mary Rennie of Oxford, a sister, Elizabeth Mahoney of Worcester, 12 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. A brother, John M. Byrne and 3 sisters, Marie Dio, Rita Leary and Irene Berthiaume predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of John F. and Mary (McTigue) Byrne attended St. John’s High School in Worcester and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Byrne had been employed by the Worcester Redevelopment Authority, retiring in 1990. He was a founding member of St. Joan of Arc Church.

The funeral is Thursday, April 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Litergy of the Word at 10:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 12th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
