Obituary

WORCESTER____John J. Tauras, 78, of Worcester died peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021, with loved ones by his side.

John is survived by four brothers, James (Angela), Thomas (Aisuluu), Alexander, and Joseph (Hana) Tauras; three sisters, Susan Capalbo (Joseph), Therese Goulet and Marie Gagnon; a sister-in-law Cecelia Tauras; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel and an infant sister, Nina. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Alexander and Majella (Couture) Tauras.

John was a self employed carpenter and an accomplished builder. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam era, earning numerous awards in the service of his country.

John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his generosity of spirit. He will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in DIRSA – MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street. A service will be held during the calling hours by Father Edward Chalmers. John’s graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 1:45 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Buzzards Bay, MA. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff from VNA/Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as the physicians and staff of Reliant Health Care.
