Obituary


LEACH, Harold F. a life long resident of Medford died April 9, 2006, at the courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford following a lengthy illness. He was 89 years old.
Mr. Leach was born in Malden, Massachusetts, on April 1, 1917, a son of the late Harry B. and Mabel (Walen) Leach. During his employment, Mr. Leach was an electrician foreman for the Boston Gas Company and a US Coast Guard Reservist. He was a lifelong Boy Scout and scout master a member of the “CCC” Civilian Conservation Corps., a lifelong member of the First Community United Methodist Church and a twenty five year sexton of the church. He was also a long time Mason and a member of the Medford Special Police for forty seven years.
Mr. Leach was the loving father of Glenn F. and his wife Nancy E. Leach of N. Andover, Thomas M. and his wife Jane K. Leach of Medford and Mabel A. and her husband Brian W. Given of Medford. Devoted brother of Marion Kennedy of Stetson, Maine and the late Richard Leach, Carleton “Raymond” Leach and Eleanor Shea. Cherished grandfather of Karen, Jeffery, Timothy, Jennifer, Amy, Allison, Shaun and the late Sgt. Glenn F. Leach, Jr. Dear great-grandfather of Rebecca, Jenna, Julianna, Sarah, Stephanie and Alissa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. His funeral service was celebrated in the First Community United Methodist Church, 55 Otis Street, MEDFORD, Thursday, April 13, 2006, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends attended. Visiting hours were in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, MEDFORD, Tuesday, April 11, 2006, from 7 – 9 PM and Wednesday, April 12, 2006, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114 or to the Boy Scouts of America, Boston Minuteman Council, 411 Unquity Road, Milton, MA 02186.
