Ernest E. Benway, 82, of Derry, NH, died Thursday September 16, 2021 in the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derry, NH on August 12, 1939, a son of the late Edward and Elsie (Page) Benway. Ernie had been lifelong resident of Derry where he was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1957. He served our Country in the US Air Force. Ernie was self-employed as the owner and operator of Benway Painting in Derry. Ernie was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed deer hunting, brook trout fishing and partridge hunting.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan M. Benway, and Aaron S. Benway; one daughter, Melinda A. Cuvellier; nine grandchildren; his brother, James S. Benway; his sister, Beverly A. Hamer; as well as three nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21st from 4 – 6pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A memorial service will follow at 6:00pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion, Post #9, PO Box 357, East Derry, NH 03041, or to the Sons of the American Legion.
