Rose H. (Petruzzi) Burgos, 69, of 21 Smithville Road died Monday,
April 10 in St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill.
Her husband of 38 years Pablo "Paul" Burgos died in 2000. She leaves a
son Paul C. Burgos of South Portland, Maine, a daughter Ann M. Thibaud of
Charlton, a step-son Luis Burgos of N.Y.C., N.Y., two step-daughters Martha
Ryan of Garwood, N.J. and Sonia Burgos of Hoboken, N.J., two brothers Louis
A. Petruzzi and John J. Petruzzi both of East Brookfield, two sisters Alma
C. Sleeper of East Brookfield and Theresa A. Edens of Orangeburg, S.C. and
four granddaughters Faith & Aimee Burgos and Emily & Valerie Thibaud. She
is pre-deceased by two brothers Ralph & Francis Petruzzi and two sisters
Florence Allen & Mary Petruzzi.
Mrs. Burgos was born in Ware daughter of Louigi and Margaret
(Ficociello) Petruzzi. She was a Physical Education Teacher in the Charlton
School System for 43 years retiring in 2002. She graduated from David
Prouty High School and Bridgewater State College. She was a member of Our
Lady of the Rosary Church. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, but
her real passion in life was her granddaughters.
The funeral will be held Thursday, April 13 with a Liturgy of the Word at
10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial
will be in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are
Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 PM in J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple
Terr., Spencer. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Rose
Burgos Memorial Sports Fund, Dudley-Charlton School System, 68 Dudley Oxford
