Obituary

Mrs. Veronica Cecelia (Silva) Peltier, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of Leonard J. Peltier, passed away at her home on her 64 wedding anniversary, September 14, 2021. She was 92 years old.

Born the 9th daughter in a family of 14 children to Manuel and Mary Silva of West Warwick Rhode Island, Veronica was second-generation Portuguese. She graduated from West Warwick High School in 1947 where she was known as “the girl with the most beautiful smile.”

Ronnie worked for many years as a medical assistant after high school and in later years, she worked with pre-school children at ECLC in North Andover – which she loved. Her proudest position, however, was as wife and mother. Her creativity led her to write poems with rhymes, to teach through song, and to make every holiday special with her love of decorating. Everything was made special by her.

A life-long member of the National Sorority Beta Sigma Phi, she various offices throughout the years. Compassionate to the core, she was involved in raising money for various charities, always offering her help to those in need, and never missed a Christmas without collecting toys for the Holiday Drives.

She loved her dogs Daisy and Woody; she loved to ready her newspaper from cover to cover every night; and she loved her Patriots games on Sundays. She was little but her presence was big and she will be missed very much.

Besides her beloved husband, Leonard, she is survived by her children; Pamela A. Angevine of Andover, Susan M. Kellan and her husband Rick of West Roxbury and Leonard J. Peltier and his husband Patrick J. Clifton of Studio City, California, and devoted siblings; Elizabeth Silva, Gloria Lafond, Eileen Godin and brothers Manny and Tom Silva.

The family wishes to extend a debt of gratitude to the members of The Merrimack Valley Hospice team, about whom we cannot say enough.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 4 to 8 PM.
