Obituary


Worcester: Barbara (Sullivan) Werme, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. She leaves 4 children- MaryBeth Pappie and her husband Michael of Florida, Patricia J. Smith and her husband Robert A. Baron of Fitchburg, Robert B. Werme Jr. of Douglas and his wife Nora of Worcester, and Matthew C. Werme of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, Suzanne Curtis, Jessica Figge, Rebecca Werme, Andrea Rodrigues, Barbara Parmenter, Theresa Werme and Magnus Werme; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters- Patricia McDonald of Sturbridge and Geraldine Arnold of Dudley; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert B. Werme and by siblings Gail Sullivan and Roy Sullivan, Jr.

Barbara was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Roy and Helen (Minor) Sullivan. She graduated from Commerce High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College. She and her husband owned and operated Douglas Orchard for many years where she built and rebuilt many stone walls and walkways. She was passionate about politics and for many years served as a member of the Democratic Town Committee in Douglas. She was a generous and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. If there was ever a need to be filled or an advocate required, she would be there to help.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
