Obituary

Beverly C. (Pierce) D’Arrigo of East Bridgewater, died Sunday, September 12, 2021, at 72 years young, and on our parents 50th wedding anniversary, our mom peacefully passed away after a 6-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease and subsequent dementia. She was the beloved wife to Kenneth D’Arrigo.

All things considered she had a good summer, some meds changes increased her alertness and the grandkids were able to visit more, but last Tuesday she had enough of her failing mind and body, went to sleep and never woke up. Her family was by her side daily and she was visited by close friends and family in her last days, and she got the love and support of the staff and hospice workers at her assisted living, one of whom told us this was the most peaceful death they had ever witnessed.

That was her death, this was her life….
Beverly was born in New London, CT, grew up in Old Mystic, CT., daughter of the late Wallace and Ruth Pierce. She grew up in Old Mystic near a farm and so began her love of animals. Over the years she loved and rescued many cats, who are all probably fighting for lap space in heaven, she would’ve loved Jill’s chickens!

She became a nurse and worked in Cardiac Care her entire career, when she retired, she turned her focus to quilting and we will all cherish our many keepsakes.

She met our dad when a co-worker insisted on setting them up on a blind date and as they say, the rest is history. We think she was somehow aware that yesterday was their 50th and wanted to hit that milestone.

Her greatest joy was her grandkids and even in her last years and months she would light up around them. She lived an honest, simple life with a caring heart and we are so grateful she is at peace surrounded by those who went before her.

Beverly loved watching the Red Sox.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Kara Kenn and her husband Peter, and children, Thomas and Sean of East Bridgewater, Jill Silva and her husband Antonio and children Derek and Danielle of Reading, her brother, Scott Pierce of CT, sisters-in-law Janice Harvey of Mashpee and Cathy D’Arrigo of CT. She was also the sister of the late Keith Pierce

Her services will be held on Tuesday September 21from 10:00-11:00AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to American Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway/Suite 1509, NY, NY www.pdf.org or to Autumn Hospice, 454 Washington St., Norwell, MA 02061.
