James J. O'Brien of Medford formerly of Charlestown passed away on September 12, 2021. He was 72 years old. James was the beloved husband of the late Maureen K. (O’Brien) O’Brien. Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late William H. and Louise (Fone) O'Brien.
Prior to his retirement, James was employed in the trucking and transportation industry with the Teamsters-Local #25. He was also a member of the 520 Club in Charlestown.
James was the devoted father of Robert D. O'Brien and his wife Maria of Woburn and the late James J. O'Brien Jr. He was the adored grandfather of Courtney, Brendan and Jeremiah O'Brien. James was the dear brother of the late William O'Brien Jr. and his surviving wife Eileen of Wakefield and the late Robert and Louise O'Brien. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, September 17 from 9-11AM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home beginning at 11AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery-Medford.
