Michael Raymond “Ricky” Peters, 62, of Brunswick, formerly of Tifton, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Hospital in Brunswick. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Larry Daughtrey officiating. Mr. Peters will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Peters’ friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 11, 1959, in Tifton, Mr. Peters was the son of Bessie Lou Roberts Sumler of Tifton and the late Raymond E. Peters. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by one brother, William Ferrell. He was retired from Walmart and he was a member of Golden Isles Baptist Church in Brunswick. He loved to fish and he loved football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs, the Tift County Blue Devils and the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Peters is survived by his wife, Laura Yvonne Willis Peters of Brunswick; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Brandon O’Neal Peters and Jason Scott and Linda Willis, all of Brunswick and Shawn Michael Peters of Milledgeville; one daughter and son-in-law, Kayla Lynn and Justin Jackson of Milledgeville; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Roy Andrew Jr. and Stephanie Ferrell and Kenneth Loyd Peters, all of Tifton and Jimmy Peters and Charles Peters, both of Sylvester; three sisters, Jessica Peters and Ann Peters, both of Sylvester and Bernice Norsworthy of Tifton; a sister-in-law, Tina Ferrell of Tifton; and eleven grandchildren.
