Obituary

Alex Gold, Jr. – age 76, of Winchester, MA, passed away on September 1, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Leslie F. (Fraser) Gold.

Born in Vicksburg, MS, he was the son of the late Alex and Mary (Allsworth) Gold. He graduated from H.V. Cooper High School in Vicksburg in 1963 and attended Telluride Association with full scholarship at Cornell University in the fall of 1963, and graduated with a B.A. in English in 1967. He then attended Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Seminar in 1967 at Wake Forest University.

In August 1970 he became Vice President of Telluride Association’s National Office. He was awarded his Ph.D from Stanford University’s Humanities/English Department in June 1973 while teaching at Boston University, where he was Professor in Humanities/English from 1972-1979. He also taught English Literature as a Professor at Harvard University for 8 years.

In addition to his wife, Alex is lovingly survived by his brothers Alan (MA), Harvey (SC), Gary (MS) and a sister Pauline (CA).
