Stanley P. Belonos, 90, formerly of Woodland Park, NJ, and most recently of the Residence at Orchard Grove, Shrewsbury, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, in St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer St.
He is survived by his cousins, Joanne E. Szlyk of Worcester and Christine (Szlyk)Lemanski of North Adams, MA, and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Belonos. He was born in Boston, a son of William and Emilia (Jankowska) Belonos.
Mr. Belonos was a civil engineer for Lummus Crest Inc., the Davy McKee Corporation, and Columbia Gas prior to retiring. He worked in Ohio, North Dakota, Argentina, and New Jersey. He graduated from BostonTechnical High School and received his bachelor degree from Northeastern University. Stanley received his master degree from Newark College of Engineering. He was a past president of the Central Ohio Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Before moving to Massachusetts, Stanley was an avid fisherman who enjoyed having a martini while he prepared his catch for dinner. He also enjoyed taking photos of wildlife. A devout Catholic, he was a former parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church, Little Falls, NJ, and attended St. Mary's Church, Shrewsbury.
A Funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, September 13, 2021, with a Mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 33 Ward St. The funeral Mass will be streamed online at www.olcworcester.com. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in HENRY- DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, 990 LaGrange St., West Roxbury, MA. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
