Richard R. Murphy, Sr., 68 of Derry, NH died Friday September 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Boston, MA on July 5, 1953, a son of the late Raphael and Alice (Madruga) Murphy. He had been a resident of Derry since 1986, formerly living in Charlestown, MA. Richard had been employed as a software engineer for Fidelity Investments for over 20 years.
He is survived by his four children, Richard R. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Amy, Heather Murphy and her companion Mark Bergeron, Erin Murphy and her companion Scott Cataldi, and Raphael M. Murphy, III and his wife Gail, 10 grandchildren, Alexus, Jake, Zachary, Patrick, Isabella, Scotty, Annah, Sophia, Tanya, Jessie, two sisters, Dee Burke and her husband Jezzy, and Mary Fossey, brother-in-law, Michael McInnis and his wife Jane, sister-in-laws, Susan Matarazzo and her companion Vito Capraro, and Helen McInnis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen I. (McInnis) Murphy in 2018, by his granddaughter, Angela Cataldi, and siblings, Rose Marie Murphy, Raphael Murphy, and Michael Murphy.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 15, 2021 from 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Face masks are recommended for those who are not fully vaccinated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Parish, 55 Warren St., Charlestown, MA. The church recommends masks for those that are fully vaccinated, and requires masks for those that are not vaccinated. Burial will be Tuesday September 21 at 12:45pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
