FALL RIVER… Richard P. Yokel, 78, of Fall River passed away peacefully at home on, Thursday, September 9, 2021.
He was the beloved life partner of Rita E. (Dutley) Jennings for 51 years.
Mr. Yokel was born in Fall River, a son of the late Armand A. and Yvonne (Desrosiers) Yokel and had lived most of his life in Fall River.
Richard worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River for many years before his retirement. An Electrician by trade, he could build or repair anything. He was always willing to help a friend or relative with any project.
Richard enjoyed spending time in his large home workshop, among his many tools. His hobbies included woodworking and cabinetry. He enjoyed classic cars and auto racing and was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley.
Richard loved all animals and would never pass a creature in need, whether it be a cat, dog, bird (including a few seagulls!), skunk, snake or turtle. He adored his cats, and they were among the most cherished things in his life.
Along with his life partner, survivors include 2 sons: Richard P. Yokel, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, and Kevin Yokel of Westport; a daughter: Cheryl Anderson of Orange City, FL; a stepson: Ronald R. Jennings of Fall River; a stepdaughter: Katherine R. Marek of Somerset; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces, and nephews. He was the brother of the late Armand Yokel.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, September 13, 2021, at 9:30 A.M. from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at Good Shepherd Parish, 1598 South Main Street, Fall River. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood Street, Fall River, MA or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
