Obituary

Humberto Fabian Gutierrez Nunez passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his home in Saint Paul, MN the age of 39.
Fabian was born on May 7, 1982 in Huixquilucan, Mexico. Soon thereafter, he and his family relocated to southern California, which is where he spent his entire formative years and most of his adulthood.
Fabian was a man of many talents powered by a beautiful creative vision. He could draw, sew, and style hair, all of which he started doing before the age of 11. He was also great in the kitchen, though he always joked that the only thing he knew how to do in the kitchen was press Start on the microwave.
Those talents were put to good use. For about 10 years, Fabian worked as a hair and makeup stylist, primarily for Hallmark movies. He was never shy about name-dropping celebrities that he had the opportunity to work, several of whom he developed long friendships with.
After leaving the movie industry, Fabian worked for several hair salons, but he was most proud of being hand-picked by celebrity stylist, José Eber, to work in his salon despite not having attended cosmetology school or any formal training.
Fabian also combined his many talents performing in Hollywood nightclubs as the drag queen Lady K. He was well-know for his Brittany Spears illusion and detailed replicas of Brittany’s touring and video costumes.
Love struck Fabian on Thanksgiving 2017, when he connected with his future husband, Trevor Wolter, on a dating app. It was a divine connection from the start. Both Fabian’s and Trevor’s app search radiuses were set too low for them to show up on each other’s screens but they did. The two were engaged August 21, 2018 and subsequently married March 31, 2019.
Fabian and Trevor relocated to Saint Paul, MN in December 2018 in response to Trevor’s job relocation. Fabian was excited about new opportunities since he didn’t know anywhere but California. And opportunity did find Fabian in Minnesota. In March of 2021 won the Catwalk Scholarship of the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute of Minneapolis. This was a full scholarship to the school and enabled Fabian to finally fully pursue his dream career.
Fabian loved many things. Probably number one among them was cheese, which earned him the nickname, Mousy. He was drawn to anything that sparkled and his favorite color was purple. He wasn’t afraid to push gender norms. He spoke his mind. His happiest place was Disneyland where he adored all of the villains, especially Malificent. He greatly enjoyed watching reruns of I Love Lucy and The Nanny. He had always hoped to be able to sit in the gallery of The People’s Court and meet Judge Marilyn Millian.
Fabian leaves behind a wealth of family and friends, including his husband, Trevor, parents Alejandra Toscano and Rogelio Gutierrez, his siblings Alan Gutierrez, Roger Gutierrez (Breanna Serrano), and Jocelyn Toscano (Mike Christy), his nephew Logan Gutierrez, and of course his dog, Diego, and cat, Kitty. He is also survived by his husband’s prodigiously large family, including his parents-in-law Chuck and Judy Wolter.
