Cynthia A. (Carreau) Ferreira, 83, of New Bedford died September 6, 2021 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of the late Roland A. Ferreira and the former wife of the late Hermano "Armand" Carvalho.
Born in New bedford, daughter of the late Armand and Florence (Deslauriers) Carreau, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Cynthia was formerly employed by Aerovox and McDonalds before retiring as a cafeteria worker at Hayden-McFadden Elementary School.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Cynthia enjoyed spending time with her family and knitting. Her home was open to anyone in need, gave great advice and always looking to help others. She was the life of the party and she will be missed.
Survivors include her 4 children, Karen Deshaies, Susan Sinagra and Kellie Ferreira, all of New Bedford and Anthony Ferreira of Florida; 2 sisters, Dolly Costa and her husband George of New Bedford and Jeannette Catron of Washington, DC; many grandchildren including Halie Sinagra and Tucker Sinagra who she raised; her caregiver, Debbie Houle; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Eric "Pee Wee" Carvalho and the sister of the late Claire Faria and Vivian Gordon.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 15th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 14th from 4-8 PM.
