Obituary

Richard Goggin, born February 16, 1960, age 61, of Readville (formerly of Roslindale) passed away on August 30th surrounded by his loved ones. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lyndajean (Canale). A devoted father of Jacqueline (born Richard Jr), Corrine, and Amanda Goggin of Readville; Son of Ronald Goggin Sr. and Mary Howie; Brother of Ronald, Daniel, and the late David Goggin; Cherished brother-in-law of Kenneth and Marcia Canale, Lisa and Michael Trachtman, Joseph Camillo and the late Karen Canale. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

For those who knew Rick, he was a rock star in so many ways. Rick was not only a talented musician and singer, he was a writer and an artist. He played in many bands and most recently performed at the Roslindale Open Mic and local farmer’s markets with his best friend, Junko Ogawa and The Really Unknowns.

His children were his proudest achievement, his joy and strength. When life handed him challenges (over and over again), he persevered. Rick suffered from a stroke at age 40. He was also diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, lost his legs, and eye sight. He also lost his wife at 48 and raised three young children. He had a village that supported him but it takes a magnetic personality to cultivate such a village. His love and friendship ran deep. He was the best listener and loved to engage in deep conversation.

When you have the pleasure to experience profound love, you experience intense grief. Rick was loved by so many. It may take us all sometime to heal but Rick would want us to continue to live life to the fullest. In his own words, "the journey still goes on. Ride On"

A Celebration of Rick's Life is planned.
