Mr. Fred W. Sunderland, Jr., a resident of Haverhill, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of the late Jean E. (Igoe) Sunderland, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He was 73 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on June 8, 1948, he was the beloved son of the late Fred W., Sr. and Grace E. (Harrison) Sunderland. He was a retired Andover Police Officer and was A graduate of Andover School of Law. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed being a Boston Sports Fan. Above all, he loved to visit his grandchildren in Colorado and speaking with them everyday. He will be dearly missed.
Fred is survived by his loving son; Fred W. Sunderland, III, of Tewksbury and Joan A. and her husband Mitch Hensley of Colorado, grandchildren; Colton and Casey Hensley and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of Nancy LeFebvre of Moultonborough, New Hampshire and the late Carol Judge and Betty McCullom.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the Christ Church, 33 Central Street, Andover on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held on Thursday in the church, prior to the service from Noon to 1 PM. Interment will be held in the West Parish Garden Cemetery in Andover.
