Obituary

Grafton: Nikolaos G. Penesis, 68, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 44 years Emilia Katsis Penesis; a son George Penesis and his wife Christina of Dudley, 2 daughters- Effy Larkin and her husband Sean of Grafton and Aggie Penesis of Grafton; 6 grandchildren- Lianna, Nicholas, Alexia, Peter, Emmalia, and Charlotte; 3 brothers- Anastasios, Panayiotis and Dimitrios Penesis; and many other beloved family members including many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Konstadinos Penesis and by a sister Katerina Arfani.

Nikolaos was born in Saint Peters, Greece, son of the late George and Efstathia (Kolovou) Penesis. He grew up in Greece and emigrated to the US in 1978. He owned and operated the former John's Pizza in Worcester for many years. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed watching sports and wrestling, gardening, and spending time with family, especially his precious grandchildren. Prior to the sale of their home, when Nikoloas was not working, you could find him proudly tending to his massive garden and patio grape vines that he loved.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in St. Spyridon Green Orthodox Cathedral 102 Russell St. Worcester, MA 01609. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be private. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
